ABOUT

Shannon Shapiro's experience in design and architecture began as a student in Austin, TX working with renowned architect Arthur Andersson formerly of Moore Andersson Architects.

Shannon has an MFA in Fine Art from Cal-Arts and three years towards a BFA from the University of Texas. While in graduate school she received a 1-year scholarship to the Glasgow School of Art.  

 

Shannon began her career as a stylist for interiors. Her portfolio includes catalogs for Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma, and CB2. Shannon also photo styled for international magazines such as Vanity Fair, Vogue, Elle Décor, Wallpaper, In Style, House & Garden and World of Interiors. 

 

In 2000, Shannon launched Moth Design and since then, her firm's focus has been designing and fabricating lighting for notable architects, interior designers, high end hotels and restaurants around the world.

 

​Moth's pieces are custom made for specific projects, and fabricated by artisans in Los Angeles.

 

In 2022, Moth Design will be launching a new company called Baulight, entirely devoted to modernism made from 100% green, upcycled materials.  Stay Tuned!
